How to paint your frames

Have your wooden frames lost their lustre?

Would you like to restore them to their former beauty, but you don't know how to do it?

We'll walk you through these tips step by step!

Steps to follow:

  • If the previous coat of paint flakes off, get rid of non-adherent elements using sandpaper.
  • If, on the other hand, your frames are in good condition, simply carry out fine ginning (220 grit).
  • Then degrease your substrate.
  • Finally, proceed to the application of a first coat of Lak Pro ST Matt or Lak Pro ST Satin (water-based paints) or de Multalkyd ST (solvent-based paint).
  • Wait at least 5 hours for a water-based paint and 20 hours for a solvent-based paint before applying the second finishing coat.

Useful information:

  • If your substrate is new or fully sanded, apply 3 coats of one of the products mentioned above. All our exterior lacquers are formulated as 3-in-1 products (primer, intermediate and finishing coat combined).
  • If the previous coat only flakes in certain places, consider sanding more generously to avoid the appearance of a difference in thickness in the finishing coat.
  • Take action only when the outside temperature exceeds 10°C day and night.
  • Do not paint on a rainy day.
  • Start your work preferably in the morning to avoid the hot afternoon weather.
  • The darker the chosen shade, the faster it will lose its colour over time.
