Precautions for use

Which Washi masking tape should you choose?

Choose your Washi tape according to the sensitivity of the substrate:

  • PeintaWashi Tape Purple: delicate surfaces.
  • PeintaWashi Tape Gold: stable surfaces.

If you are unsure between two adhesion levels, always test the tape first on a small, inconspicuous area.

Directions for use

How to apply PeintaWashi Tape masking tape

For sharp, precise paint edges, apply PeintaWashi Tape to a clean, dry and sufficiently sound surface, ideally at a temperature between 15°C and 25°C.

  1. Prepare the surface
Remove any dust, grease or dirt that could reduce the adhesion of the masking tape. If in doubt, test the tape first on a small, inconspicuous area.
  2. Apply the masking tape
Unroll PeintaWashi Tape along the area to be painted or protected, without overstretching the tape.
  3. Press down the tape edge carefully
Press the entire surface of the tape firmly into place, paying particular attention to the paint edge. Good contact with the substrate helps prevent paint from bleeding under the tape and produces sharper paint lines.
  4. Apply your paint or lacquer
PeintaWashi Tape is suitable for water- and solvent-based paints.
  5. Remove the tape
After painting, carefully remove the masking tape at an angle of 30° to 45° to achieve a clean, even paint edge.

Tip

How to achieve even sharper paint lines

On slightly textured surfaces, small irregularities can allow paint to bleed under the masking tape.

After applying and carefully pressing down the PeintaWashi Tape, apply a thin coat of the existing surface colour along the edge of the tape. This first coat helps seal small irregularities.

Once dry, apply the new colour. When the tape is removed, the line between the two colours will be particularly sharp.

This technique is particularly useful for creating straight lines, geometric shapes and sharp colour transitions on slightly textured surfaces.
